Nutrition Services

The Child Care Food Program is a federally funded program that provides funding for nutritious meals and snacks served in licensed day care homes. UCAP currently supports 86 providers in 13 counties. These counties include Alfalfa, Creek, Garfield, Grant, Kay, Lincoln, Logan, Noble, Oklahoma, Osage, Pawnee, Payne, and Washington. Day care providers receive monthly checks to help cover the cost of food. Meals provided must meet the USDA requirements for meal content and portion size. Emphasis is placed on healthy, nutritious meals. In this way healthy food habits are introduced at an early age, with the hop that these habits will continue throughout the lives of the children served.

Providers are all educated in order to meet the strict CACFP standards. Each year they attend a workshop in order to learn and review the requirements, as well as to discuss nutritional information. They are also visited three times per year by United staff to ensure that CACFP goals are being met. These visits provide opportunities to continue their educations in healthy eating.
